A proactive and highly motivated aviation professional with over 13 years’ experience in the aviation industry.
Jason provides consulting and auditing services to airports and other aviation organisations, including as an associate to other consultancies.
Prior to starting Averco, Jason had been the Airport Manager of Kapiti Coast Airport for eight years up until the end of 2019. This role encompassed accountability for the management of safety and security for all Kapiti Coast Airport operations including ownership of all airside and landside activities, maintenance of airport design requirements, conformance with quality assurance obligations, and compliance with all applicable Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations and requirements, in particular with the sections of Civil Aviation Rule Part 139 (Aerodromes) and appropriate Advisory Circulars.
In this time Jason was involved with various projects including construction of the airport’s Flight Information Service tower, relocation of the Kapiti Aero Club clubhouse and hangars, redesign of grass runways and taxiways, maintenance of obstacle limitation surfaces, and managed airport related matters that supported adjacent commercial property development.
Jason has built and maintained key business relationships with commercial interests, the Civil Aviation Authority, Airways NZ, airlines, aircraft operators, consultants, contractors, surveyors, local businesses, local and regional councils, emergency services, and industry partners including providing guidance and support to various other airports.
Jason has a number of years flying experience as previously a flying instructor at the International Aviation Academy of NZ and the Kapiti Aero Club, and commercial pilot for skydiving operations in Taupo. He holds a Commercial Pilots Licence with Instructor Rating, and has aircraft type ratings on various single and twin-engine fixed-wing aircraft, with in excess of 1,400 hours flight time experience.
Jason’s qualifications include Aviation Quality & Safety Systems Lead Auditor (ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 19011), Aviation Risk Management (Aerosafe), and Management of Critical Risks: Bow Tie Fundamentals (Impac). Jason also has a National Certificate in Automotive Engineering.
